Scholarship Information:

The Commonwealth 2025 Split-Site Ph.D. Scholarship is designed for students from eligible Commonwealth countries who are pursuing doctoral studies. This fully funded scholarship allows scholars to conduct research for up to 12 months at a UK university while remaining registered at their home institution. It aims to build international academic collaborations and contribute to the development of Commonwealth nations.

Applicants must demonstrate strong academic performance, have a research proposal relevant to development goals, and establish links between their home and UK universities. Benefits include funding for travel, tuition, and living expenses, as well as additional family allowances for eligible scholars. This opportunity is ideal for doctoral candidates who wish to enhance their research through international collaboration.

  • All Commonwealth nations, including Nigeria
  • Refugees or British Protected Persons from eligible countries

Benefits:

  • Fully funded round-trip airfare between home country and the UK
  • Full coverage of tuition fees
  • Monthly living stipend: £1,347 (or £1,652 for universities in London)
  • Study travel grant for research-related trips
  • Family allowances:
    • £576.61 per month for the first child
    • £143 per month for the second and third children under 16 (if living with the scholar in the UK)

Up to 12 months of research at a UK university

Requirements:

  1. Be a citizen or have refugee status in an eligible Commonwealth country.
  2. Reside permanently in a Commonwealth nation.
  3. Be enrolled as a Ph.D. student at a university in an eligible country.
  4. Establish an institutional link between the home university and a UK university.
  5. Hold at least an upper second-class degree (2:1) or a relevant postgraduate qualification.
  6. Submit a research proposal with a focus on development goals.

  1. Prepare Your Application:
    • Register on the CSC Central application portal.
    • Collect required documents:
      • Proof of citizenship or refugee status (passport or national ID).
      • Full academic transcripts with certified translations (if not in English).
      • References from at least two individuals, signed and on institutional letterhead.
      • Supporting statements from both current and proposed supervisors.
  2. Submit Your Application:
    • Log in to the CSC Central portal and complete the online application form.
    • Upload all required documents.
  3. Deadline:
    Applications must be submitted by 16:00 GMT on December 16, 2024. Incomplete or late applications will not be accepted.
